Title I


Nottoway County Public Schools Title I Information:

Title I is a federal program that provides funding to assist students. Four of the five division schools are school wide Title I schools: Blackstone Primary School, Crewe Primary School, Nottoway Intermediate School, and Nottoway Middle School.

Title I support helps to provide learning opportunities and resources to students. Additional teacher support and coaching services are provide within the school settings. Each school has a Parent- School Liaison to support connections with families

Title I Tips for Parents to Help Your Child Succeed in School

  • Engage with your child throughout the day (Talk to your child about how school is going, ask them questions about items in the grocery store, have conversations in the car, etc.)

  • Provide a quiet place in your home for your child to complete homework/read for pleasure

  • Encourage your child to read every day

  • Meet your child’s teacher and ask him/her about your child’s progress

  • Join your school’s PTA

  • Make sure your child attends school regularly

  • Limit screen time to no more than two hours/day (TV/computer/handheld devices/video games, etc.)

  • Model reading in the home for your child and take your child to the public library 

  • Volunteer in your child’s school if your schedule permits
