Education: Nottoway High School Old Dominion University B.S.—Major: Psychology, Minors: Criminal Justice & Social Welfare Longwood University M.S.—Majors: Community & College Counseling, School Counseling Hometown: Nottoway County VA Licenses: School Counselor PreK-12, Emotional Disturbance K-12, Mental Retardation K-12, Specific Learning Disabilities K-12) Personal Goal: To collaborate with students, parents, school staff and community agents in an effort to assist all students in developing the personal skills needed to be successful students and good decision makers by gaining adequate knowledge for success upon graduating high school; becoming accountable citizens; and, maintaining positive attitudes in the process of becoming prosperous workers and continuous learners. As a guidance counselor at Nottoway High School I strive to provide social, educational, career and personal assistance to high school students. I provide personal counseling as well as career and college counseling. One of my main priorities among my many professional duties is to ensure that students are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to achieve their postsecondary educational and career goals. I am available to offer advice and career counseling to students about technical or trade schools, as well as colleges and universities, and give them information on such things as applications, admissions, college entrance exams and financial aid along with assisting with developing job-finding skills. I am involved in peer mediation and the dropout prevention program at Nottoway High School. In cases of emergency or school crises, it is my duty to respond quickly, getting the proper authorities and administrators involved to resolve the issues.

Bryan Jackson Guidance Counselor Nottoway High School
Hometown: Newburyport Massachusetts, about ˝ hour north of Boston Welcome to the Nottoway High School Guidance Web Site. My name is Bryan Jackson and I would like to introduce myself as one of the new Guidance Counselors at the high school. I am a graduate of Pentucket Regional Senior High School and earned my Bachelors degree at Bridgewater State College in Bridgewater Massachusetts. I have lived in Virginia with my wife Carolyn for the last four and a half years. We both began our education careers teaching for Richmond City Public Schools. I attended graduate school at Longwood University and earned my Master’s degree in school counseling in May of 2008. I am very excited to be a part of your school system and look forward to a wonderful school year. Hobbies: fishing, hiking, golfing, camping, and watching the Red Sox with my wife!
